The TL4 gearbox was developed by the Renault and introduced in 2005. Initially assembled in the Renault Clio 3 Sport RS and the Dacia Sandero RS, it has also been used in other Renault models, including the Clio IV and the Mégane II, III, and IV.
How are they made:
Our plate-type LSDs (Limited Slip Differentials) are expertly crafted from forged nickel-chromoly steel and undergo advanced heat treatments, including Cryogenic processes. They are further enhanced through shot peening and WPC treatments in some applications, which strengthen both the core and surface, increase wear resistance, and extend service life.
The high-strength material, combined with these specialized processes, minimizes friction, enhances fatigue resistance, and significantly reduces overall weight. Additionally, internal lubrication is improved thanks to large windows and multiple holes in the design.
As a result, our LSDs deliver exceptional durability—requiring no servicing for the first 2,000 km of special stages on average—while maintaining stable and improved performance throughout their lifespan.
Technical specifications:
This plated LSD is a market leader, featuring a unique 12-friction-plate design compared to the 8 plates typically offered by competitors. Additionally, it stands out as the lightest option available, weighing just 5.15 kg. These innovations enhance traction and deliver consistent performance, maintaining a stable preload value over time, even during demanding endurance races.
As with all our plated LSDs, this model incorporates dual ramp bodies. The factory-spec configuration for this application includes 35/65 and 45/60 ramp angles, with other angles available upon request.
For added versatility, we include free of charge an extra, thicker belleville/conical washer for users seeking higher preload values.
To demonstrate our commitment to quality and reliability, we offer a one-year motorsport warranty covering material or manufacturing defects across our entire range of plate-type LSDs.
Important Reminder:
We recommend using gear oils with shockproof additives or friction modifiers, commonly labeled as "LS" (Limited Slip) gear oils, specifically for plate-type LSDs.
The most common SAE grade is 75W-140 LS and only with LS specifications if a plate-type LSD is installed.
It is also advisable to add gear oil directly to the LSD during installation into the gearbox. Please note that although we apply anti-rust oil during assembly at our factory, it does not provide lubrication.
