Key Benefits of RSX Torsen (Gear-Type) LSD
Maintenance-free design
No clutches or friction plates to wear out.
Smooth and progressive torque transfer
Eliminates sudden locking for stable and predictable handling.
Ideal for mixed-use vehicles
Perfect for daily driving, performance driving, and track-day use.
Significant lap time improvement
Compared to open differentials, RSX Torsen LSDs improve lap times by approximately 1 second per kilometer on average, based on extensive testing across:
- Circuit racing
- Tarmac & gravel rally
- Rallycross
- Hill climb
- Drag racing
Manufacturing Process & Materials
Manufactured from FORGED Nickel-Chromoly steel
Advanced treatments for maximum durability:
- Super sub-zero treatment
- Shot peening
- WPC surface finishing
These processes significantly increase surface hardness, making the LSD suitable for high-torque and high-horsepower applications, including turbocharged engines exceeding 1,000 hp.
Our in-house high-angle helical gear design provides exceptional traction and cornering performance, surpassing even some plate-type LSDs currently on the market.
Recommended Applications
1. Street Driving
- Improved traction, stability, and safety in everyday use
- Excellent performance in adverse conditions (rain, snow, gravel)
- Smooth and quiet operation with no steering pull
- Completely transparent behavior for drivers of any skill level
2. Track Days & Performance Driving
- Consistent torque distribution under load
- Enhanced corner exit acceleration
- Reduced wheel spin during aggressive driving
- Ideal balance between daily usability and track performance
3. Motorsport Applications
Proven performance in:
- Circuit racing
- Time attack
- Rally & rallycross
- Autocross
- Drag racing
Improves vehicle balance:
- Reduces understeer in FWD cars
- Controls oversteer in RWD cars
Highly durable and maintenance-free, ideal for:
- Endurance racing
- One-make series
- Cost-sensitive motorsport programs
Warranty
All RSX Torsen (Gear-Type) LSDs are covered by a 5-year motorsport warranty, protecting against material or manufacturing defects.
Important Installation & Oil Recommendation
Use OE or fully synthetic gear oil
DO NOT use shockproof oils or oils with friction modifiers (“LS” oils designed for plate-type LSDs)
Add gear oil directly to the LSD during gearbox assembly
(Anti-rust oil used during factory assembly does not provide lubrication)
